PILGRIMAGE TO THE SANTUARY
I TINERARY
DAY 1.- We pick you up at your hotel at 5:00
a.m. Later we continue to the km. 82 by bus,
approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. About 8:00
a.m. we will start our trek to Machupicchu. Two
hours later we will arrive at the view point
from which we have an amazing view of Patallaqta,
the second biggest Inka city after Machupicchu.
Then we go down and reach the Inka highway,
following the bank of Kusichaca (happy river)
towards Wayllabamba (largest village) where our
campsite will be.
DAY 2.- HUAYLLABAMBA-PAKAYMAYU.-We will
have a wake up call tea at 5:3O a.m. in the
morning, and afterwards we will organize our
luggage. Breakfast is at 6:30 a.m. From here the
path leads uphill. We climb for approximately
four hours before we reach the first pass,
Warmiwañusqa (4,200 m.above sea level) “Eternal
Woman”. This morning we will walk through the
cloud forest and also polylepis-wood land. Two
hours later we arrive in LLulluchapampa where we
can enjoy wonderful views of the valley, there
is also a toilet here. You can see the highest
pass from here. It looks deceptively close but
in fact it is a gruelling one and a half hour
walk. There you can take panoramic pictures of
the area. Then we are going to descend for about
five minutes to a place where we will have our
lunch, to later continue to Pacaymayu (3,650 m.)
“hidden river”, our second campsite.
DAY
3.- PAKAYMAYU-WIÑAYWAYNA.- After two days of
physical effort, today is mostly a spiritual day.
We will visit archeological Inka sites and enjoy
spectacular landscapes. You can look at the two
beautiful mountain ranges (Urubamba and
Vilcabamba) and observe the flora and fauna of
this place, such as different varieties of
orchids and the hummingbirds. Our lunch will be
in Phuyupatamarka, “Top of the world”. Later we
are going to down to Wiñaywayna, “Forever young”,
our last campsite.
DAY 4.- WIÑAYWAYNA- MACHUPICCHU.- Our
breakfast will be very early. Around 5:00 a.m.
we are going to start walking towards the Inti
Punku or “SunGate”.
Suddenly there is a fantastic
